Women have long sought to improve the appearance of their eyes by enhancing their eyelashes. Whether it be from the application of mascara or synthetic eyelashes which attach to the eyelid, longer and fuller eyelashes provide real beauty to the eye area. The newest method of eyelash enhancement are semi-permanent eyelash extensions. They offer the cosmetic benefit of lengthening and thickening the eyelash without the need for mascara or using synthetic eyelashes which easily come off or look unnatural.

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are comprised of single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to resemble a natural eyelash. They come in a variety of lengths, thicknesses, curvatures and colors. The eyelashes are applied to your individual natural eyelashes, one at a time under magnification, with a special adhesive. The adhesive has the same ingredient  used by plastic surgeons for suture less wound closure so there is minimal risk of irritation. They are weightless with a natural look and feel. Because of the adhesive, they are water resistant so you can exercise, sleep, swim or shower without worry of them coming loose or falling off.

The eyelash extension procedure is painless and will not harm your existing natural lashes or your eyelids. The lash extensions are never applied directly to your eyelids.  The procedure takes up to two hours to do and entails the placement of 60 to 80 lashes per upper eyelid.  Lower eyelid lashes are not done. When properly applied and maintained, eyelash extensions can last indefinitely with touchups every 2 to 4 weeks.  A natural lash typically falls out every 60 to 90 days and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. So over time, new lash extensions must be periodically applied as a replacement for those that have completed their life cycle.
