For almost a quarter century silicone breast implant sizes in the U.S. had a maximum size volume of 800ccs. This served the vast majority of patients well as only a very small percentage of aesthetic breast augmentation patients ever desire a size north of 800cs. Historically any patient needing a larger size had to resort to overfilled saline implants. While this was not a terrible choice overfilled saline implants have their issues from feeling very firm/hard to the risk of spontaneous deflation.
Now larger silicone breast implant sizes are clinically available. From 930cc to 1445ccs six (6) larger breast implants are available and FDA-approved (930, 1030, 1135, 1240, 1340 and 1445ccs) . For those women seeking large breast augmentation results these options should satisfy almost all of them.
As would be expected the implant’s base diameter and projection increases as the implant volume gets bigger. Base diameters go from 15 to almost 18cms and projections are from 7 to 8cms,
