While more people than ever before are having plastic surgery, many of them are not new patients to the experience. Traditional thinking is that once one has a procedure, it is a one-time experience. And that the increase in the number of plastic surgery procedures performed in the past decade has been new patients. But most plastic surgeons will tell you that at least half and maybe as much as two-thirds of their patients are repeat customers. There is a psychological term for this observation known as ‘accomplishment feedback’. Once someone has had an initial positive plastic surgery experience, they are more likely to seek out other improvements in the future. This could be a touchup on a previous procedure or a completely different procedure the next time.
