Liposuction causes the fat that is removed to boil…or at least so it seems. The bubbling often seen in the collection canister into which the suctioned fat goes can often be seen to be bubbling (boiling) even though it is not hot. (it is room temperature) This is actually the vaporization of water in the fat which is caused by the negative pressure (- 1 atmosphere) by the vacuum machine. This is also why it is easier or takes less suction pressure to do liposuction at high altitudes, the atmospheric pressure is less and the vaporization pressure of water is reached more quickly….so the fat or more efficiently aspirated.
