The plastic surgery concept of a Mommy Makeover is now well known and includes various combinations of breast and abdominal reshaping. It involves changing those areas of a woman that are most affected by pregnancy, the breasts and the stomach areas. While a Mommy Makeover sounds like a new operation or technique, it is merely a marketing term that encompasses well known and standard breast and abdominal plastic surgery operations. While men are not directly affected by pregnancy like a woman, they do have changes that occur from aging and stress of being a parent. This has led to the male equivalent of the Mommy makeover which to no surprise is entitled the Daddy Makeover. The increased responsibiities of children led to less time for working out and the eventual gain of unsightly bulges like love handles and a lower abdominal pooch. In some men, chest changes may appear as well. (man boobs) Thus the Daddy Makeover usually includes various forms of liposuction, like Smartlipo, to reshape the chest and waistline in an effort to do what diet and exercise can not do alone. While men historically have made up less than 10% of all aesthetic procedures performed annually in the U.S., that percentage is slowly increasing as more male partake of the advantages that such procedures as body reshaping provides. Like the Mommy Makeover, there is nothing new in the Daddy Makeover other than a catchy name which includes standard liposuction techniques. But the fact that there is a name for it indicates the greater acceptance of plastic surgery amongst men of all ages.
